Last year we had a discussion with the family about exchanging Christmas gifts for an experience and they bought it. A few years ago, we went to the Philippines for three weeks in December and celebrated both Christmas and New Year's there, so it was easy to sell them on going to Mexico. My boy wasn't able to go (you'll find out why here) so my awesome parents stayed behind with him. Not my ideal plan but we had already booked the tickets early in the year, so we'll just have to do it again. Oh darn.
When I was little, I grew up in Saudi Arabia and each summer we would travel and that was the best thing my parents gave me. I was exposed to cultures, sights, history, and people that one city, no matter which city you live in, could ever show me. God gave us the whole world to play on ~ I want to give my kids the opportunity to do so.
Now that we're settled in to the New Year, here's my chance to share our winter in Puerto Vallarta.
If you've ever thought about traveling but keep putting it on the back burner because the kids are in school, money is tight, your job, or whatever the reason just keep in mind the gifts that you gave and received at Christmas will one day be gone. The adventures and stories you create, however, will be passed on.
